“We live in a difficult historical moment, in a period of transition, in which it is increasingly urgent to protect our Planet. Therefore it is important to put the knowledge and skills acquired at the service of the country in order to create a favorable regulatory framework for PV development.” – Michela Demofonti, Head of External Communication
MICHELA DEMOFONTI – Head of External Communication in EF Solare Italia
How does your role in EF Solare evolved?
In EF Solare I started my career as energy manager in Operations area. I followed also the activities to be compliant with the procedures published by GSE and ARERA. During my first year in the company, I also worked on special projects related to external communication such as the creation of the EF logo, the website and the opening of social channels.
Later, as staff CEO, I had the opportunity to know the evolution of the photovoltaic industry, taking part in the activities of associations, in sponsorships of studies and training courses. I have also supported the CEO in activities related to external communication, organization of events and regulatory analysis.
I have started the role of Head of External Communication since March. I work on all activities concerning brand identity, lobby, regulatory framework and ESG.
How will your previous experiences support you in this new role?
All my previous professional experiences have been an important role. Working at GSE taught me the value of teamwork in particular to face interdisciplinary projects. I had also the possibility to know the Italian public support systems for renewable energy sources. Later I also expanded my knowledge of the energy sector working in a start-up operating in the retail market of electricity and gas.
In this new role, the knowledge and skills developed over the years will be fundamental. Also the people that I met during these years were essential. They have been mentors who showed me the importance of achieving results working in an atmosphere of cooperation and trust.
What kind of personal growth have you experienced in these years at EF Solare?
Working at EF Solare has given me the opportunity for a professional and a personal growth. The challenges I’ve faced and the people I’ve met have pushed me to a continuous improvement. They have also helped me to increase my interpersonal skills and to work together towards common goals.
In your opinion, how has EF SOLARE changed over the years?
EF Solare has grown a lot over the years and represents a successful story. The Group has grown not only in terms of numbers (more PV plants to manage, more people involved), but also in terms of structure and approach. Thanks to the teamwork, EF Solare is now the first photovoltaic operator in Italy and, with the entry into the Spanish market, also one of the main ones in Europe. In recent years the people have developed skills and knowledge that have allowed EF Solare to become an industrial operator. EF Solare is active in the process of energy transition thanks to revamping & repowering projects, the creation of a new model of agri-photovoltaic and the development of storage.
What are the challenges and goals of the area to achieve together with the Group?
We live in a difficult historical moment, in a period of transition, in which it is increasingly urgent to protect our Planet. Renewable energy and in particular photovoltaics represent solutions that can support the decarbonisation process of society, reduce the cost of electricity and increase energy independence. Therefore it is important to put the knowledge and skills acquired at the service of the country in order to create a favorable regulatory framework for PV development. At the same time, it is fundamental to create a culture of sustainability to increase people’s awareness. They could reflect on the importance of their daily actions to create a more sustainable economic growth in a decarbonised society.
