“The achievement of ISO 14001 and 45001 has been an important goal for the company achieved thanks to the valuable work of everyone and in particular of the team in charge of certifications, including my colleagues Marco Spescha, Head of HSE, Aurelio Calabrò of the HSE department and the consultants of Stu Engineering.” – Roberto De Simone, Head of Supply Chain & HSE
In 2020 we started a fundamental journey that involved the entire company and that today has finally allowed us to achieve two of the most important international company certifications:
– the certification for the management of environmental impacts of our business, whose international reference standard is ISO 14001, which defines an important and clear environmental management system to be integrated into the system of business processes;
– the certification for the management of health and safety of workers, whose reference standard is ISO 45001, which offers the indications to structure a precise system of management and mitigation of risks to the health and safety of workers, the promotion and governance of safer working practices and the evaluation of the performance of protection of health and safety of workers.
The ISO certifications were issued in late April by RINA, which has served as the certifying body since July 2020. Despite the difficulties due to the Covid-19 emergency, it conducted specific and punctual audits and inspections, according to the technical standards defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), attesting to the quality of the work carried out by the EF Solare Group. In order to achieve the two certifications UNI EN ISO 14001 and UNI EN ISO 45001:2018, we have put in place, through the designated working group, a series of actions aimed at:
– carry out initial environmental analyses and verifications of the company’s compliance with current environmental and occupational safety regulations;
– map the relevant company processes in specific reference procedures;
– implement a correct methodology for the investigation of the context and stakeholders;
– manage the non-conformities detected and the relative corrective actions;
– draw up the plan of actions and monitoring for the achievement of annual objectives in terms of Environment and Safety at Work;
– update and integrate the company HSE policy.
With the adoption of the Integrated Management System for Environment and Safety at Work, therefore, we have been able to identify in our organization the tasks, responsibilities and processes HSE with clarity and efficiency, aiming at sustainable development and increasingly careful to people and environmental resources, within a vision that makes ethical action one of the pillars of the company’s values.
“The process of acquiring company certifications – said Roberto De Simone, Head of Supply Chain & HSE – has been an important opportunity for us to engage and motivate all EF Solare people. The achievement of ISO 14001 and 45001 has been an important goal for the company achieved thanks to the valuable work of everyone and in particular of the team in charge of certifications, including my colleague Aurelio Calabrò of the HSE department and the consultants of Stu Engineering. The certification processes generate value for the entire organization and provide opportunities to work on business management and business processes looking at them from a different point of view. This allows us to extensively identify and solve environmental and occupational safety issues, contributing to an even more efficient management of the core business. We at EF Solare are proud to have embarked on this path because we are aware that it doesn’t end with obtaining certifications, but rather activates a virtuous mechanism of continuous improvement that involves the entire organization and permeates our core business.”
“Company certifications – said Marco Spescha, Head of HSE – represent a fundamental step required not only by the market, but also by the company itself and the people who make it up. In this context, the certification processes have represented a valuable opportunity to acquire not only more sensitivity and awareness of HSE issues but also to enhance teamwork through a clearer sharing of corporate goals. We have started a fundamental path that we all want to continue to follow together, developing a system of growth and continuous improvement. Certifications represent at all levels an indispensable recognition and element to consolidate the internal and external reputation of the company that projects EF Solare towards new and ambitious goals”.
