“The energy-supply challenges that the country faces make us aware of our duty to continue the development and innovation work in this sector. We are convinced that enhancing renewable energy generation capacity requires the dissemination of the culture of sustainability and a continuous focus on research and technological innovation. In this way, it will be possible to increase clean energy production by creating shared value for all the involved actors, communities, and territories”

EF SOLARE SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2022: OUR ENERGY FOR THE TRANSITION

EF Solare continues to strengthen its role in the energy transition journey, thanks to the achievement of ambitious goals, which in 2022 allowed the Group to improve its results, making a strong contribution to national and European clean energy production.

Precisely to share the achieved milestones, EF Solare published its sustainability report again this year, which, featuring an interactive graphic design, illustrates the growth path undertaken in 2022, assessing the impact of the activities that the Group carried out so that these results can become a further stimulus to achieve future goals more sustainably.

The commitment of EF Solare to the energy transition

In 2022, EF Solare continued its efficiency-improving process aimed at enhancing the photovoltaic plants in its portfolio, optimizing their management, and, at the same time, increasing the production of clean energy. To do this, module revamping activities of 78 MWinverter revamping activities of 28 MW, and module repowering activities of 2 MW were carried out in 2022. Together, these activities contributed to the increase in the Group’s renewable energy production, which, between Italy and Spain, amounted to more than 1.500 GWh in 2022, equivalent to the electricity consumption of the municipality of Bologna[1], thus avoiding the emission of more than 580.000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere

At the same time, EF Solare continued to internalize Operations & Maintenance activities by consolidating the in-house management of 87 plants for a total of 227 MW. Thanks to this initiative, it has been possible to gain greater awareness of the assets in the portfolio and thus plan interventions suitable for every situation, applying all the latest technological innovations and technical updates in this sector.

EF Solare’s strategy fits coherently into the trends of the renewable sector, resting on four pillars that represent stimulating challenges capable of strengthening the company’s leadership: research and technology, scale economies, an integrated approach to the market, and the development of innovative financial instruments will be essential factors in ensuring operational success.

Agrivoltaic 2.0: proximity to the Territory and Innovation

To make decarbonization goals a reality, EF Solare is constantly engaged in communication and collaboration with territories, companies, and institutions, both national and local, to create, based on its own experience, the best conditions for the growth of photovoltaics.

To this end, EF Solare has been working for years to spread innovative approaches such as agrivoltaics, investing in research, and enhancing the potential of this technology, to create models capable of creating shared value. Building on decades of experience in photovoltaic greenhouses and the development of the innovative open-field model with zero land consumption, the Group is participating in the development of agrivoltaics in Europe through membership of an international consortium that will, in the next 4 years, develop a research project that aims to define a standardized and cost-effective model of European agrivoltaics.

“The energy-supply challenges that the country faces make us aware of our duty to continue the development and innovation work in this sector. Today, photovoltaics represent the most versatile and competitive renewable energy source, which, thanks also to the development of storage systems, can contribute significantly to the decarbonization of the energy mix. At EF Solare, we are convinced that enhancing renewable energy generation capacity requires an ever-increasing dissemination of the culture of sustainability and a continuous focus on research and technological innovation at the same time. In this way, it will be possible to increase clean energy production by creating shared value for all the involved actors, communities, and territories” said Andrea Ghiselli, CEO of EF Solare.
