Name, surname and role
Roberto De Simone, Head of Supply Chain & HSE.
What the profession of Head of Supply Chain and HSE is about?
I am a business partner of Operations: my aim is to offer and provide colleagues in Operations the effective, efficient and integrated control of the supply chain, on the one hand, and of the processes for protecting the health and safety of people and respecting the environment, on the other. An unified approach must encourage continuous improvement in the service provided to Operations in order to make our business profitable and increasingly sustainable.
What will be the challenges in your area for the coming months in EF Solare?
The most important challenge will be to effectively support the implementation of the Business Plan. Supply chain management is strategic at all stages: from the choice of engineering support, to the procurement of critical components, to the selection of contractors for the management of revamping & repowering sites, which must be based on maximum safety and efficiency, both operational and environmental. At the same time, we must ensure the improvement of operational governance systems, such as central monitoring and plant video surveillance, and continuously improve all organizational and process controls to protect the environment and all the people who work in and with EF Solare.
What course of study did you take?
Curiosity and the desire to learn have fueled the years of my education, and I have always been passionate about philosophy and law. But most of all mathematics and physics, which encouraged and pushed me towards a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnico of Milan.
Which professional experience has impressed you the most?
I was lucky enough to live the years of liberalization of the production and sale of electricity in Italy, between the end of the last millennium and the beginning of the new one. Also to participate in the construction and launch of the Italian Power Exchange (IPEX), representing Edipower, at that time the second largest Italian operator in the dawning generation market in Italy. I still remember with a pinch of emotion 31 March 2004, the first day of the Italian electricity market after more than forty years of monopoly.
